About Us

AFC Cable Systems, Inc., a part of Atkore International, is a leading designer, manufacturer and supplier of electrical distribution products. These include armored and metal clad cables, flexible wiring systems, flexible metal, non-metallic, and flexible metallic liquidtight conduits and fittings used in the construction and modernization of commercial office buildings, institutional facilities, shopping centers and multifamily dwellings.

The company, which traces its origins to 1926, supplies a broad range of innovative, cost-effective products to electrical contractors throughout the United States and internationally.
Mission

Design and manufacture cost saving electrical and communication products and systems that supply power, voice and data for commercial, retail, institutional, and industrial applications.
Products

Armored cable (Type AC, Type MC), metallic, non-metallic, and liquidtight flexible metal conduits, specialty cables, cable and conduit fittings, integrated modular voice/power/data wiring systems.
Applications

Commercial, retail, institutional, and industrial construction, including commercial office buildings, hospitals and other healthcare facilities, banks, shopping centers, computer centers, manufacturing facilities, new construction renovations and re-hab construction.
Customers

Design build electrical contractors, Electricians, OEM's, and other Electrical Industry Professionals – sold through Electrical Wholesale Distributors and several DIY retailers.

AFC Cable Division's product line includes of armored cable (Type AC, Type MC), metallic, non-metallic, and liquidtight flexible metal conduits, specialty cables, cable and conduit fittings, and integrated modular voice/power/data wiring systems. These products offer total installed cost savings, along with application versatility.

AFC Fittings product line consists of fittings for armored cable (Type AC, Type MC), flexible and non-flexible conduit and coupling, and conduit.

ACS/Uni-Fab modular power product line encompasses value-added electrical device assemblies and systems in both standard and custom configurations.



History

AFC Cable Systems, Inc. was founded in New Bedford, Mass., in 1926 as American Flexible Conduit Company. The company was privately owned, then a part of Nortek Inc., Providence, R.I. from 1969 until 1990.

AFC was again a private company independent of Nortek until December 1993, when it executed an initial public offering. The company successfully completed a follow-on offering in February 1995.

In November of 1999, AFC was acquired by Tyco International, Ltd.

In 2010, Tyco International announced agreement to sell majority stake in our business to the private equity firm Clayton, Dubilier & Rice. The new company is named Atkore International.

In 2011, Atkore International starts the year as a standalone company.

Bob Pereira

President AFC Cable Systems

Bob PereiraMr. Pereira has served in this role since being named in April 2011. He joined the company in 1985 and has served in a number of key management roles. Most recently, he served as Vice President – Cable Operations with responsibility for manufacturing, distribution and product development at several key facilities. Additionally, Mr. Pereira has held a prominent role in developing a number of the company's Patented and Patent Pending products. Prior to joining the company, Mr. Pereira was Vice President and General Manager for the Electrical Products Division of Revere Copper and Brass.

He holds a Bachelor's degree in management from the University of Massachusetts and has completed additional post-graduate studies at Northeastern University.

Chief Operating Officer

Peter LariviereMr. Lariviere joined AFC Cable Systems in September 2013. Previously, Mr. Lariviere served as President-Storage and Workplace Solutions, a division of Stanley Black and Decker. Mr. Lariviere' spent more than three years at Lista International Corporation, where he was Chief Executive Officer responsible for establishing and executing the strategic direction for Lista worldwide. His past experiences include Amesbury Group Inc., a provider of door hardware, weather seals, as well as window and door components. He was Senior Vice President-Window Hardware Division responsible for the North America division of Amesbury Group. During his early career, Peter held numerous operational positions with increasing responsibility.

Peter received his Master of Business Administration from New Hampshire College and is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts where he received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He also is a graduate of the Executive Management Program, University of North Carolina, Kenan-Flagler Business School, as well as a Certified Six-Sigma Blackbelt.


AFC Management Team

Vice President Marketing and Business Development

James HouMr. Hou joined AFC Cable Systems in February 2013. Previously, Mr. Hou served as Director, Strategic Marketing-Building Material Group for Owens Corning. Immediately prior to Owens Corning, Mr. Hou spent five years with Danaher Corporation Tools and Accessories Division serving in positions of increasing responsibility, including Product Management Manager, Director-Marketing and Business Development and Director-World Wide Sales and Marketing. Mr. Hou also worked for Olympia Group, Inc. as Senior Category Manager and Bosch Power Tool Company in Product Marketing.

He is a graduate of National Cheng Kung University where he received a Bachelor of Transportation and Communication Management degree and received his Master of Business Administration in International Management from Thunderbird School of Global Management.


National Sales Director

Ken LamarreKen earned his BS in business from Stonehill College in Easton, MA. He joined AFC in 1986 as a member of the Inside Sales Team where he progressed through increasingly challenging territory assignments. In 2010 he was promoted to National Sales Director reporting to the Business Unit President, and is responsible for all Cable Division sales. Ken lives with his family in South Dartmouth, MA where he enjoys golf and outdoor sports.


Director of Advanced Manufacturing Engineering and Quality

Mike VertenteMr. Vertente has served in this role since 2002. He has held a number of increasingly responsible positions at AFC from Project Engineer to Engineering Manager overseeing a number of facility and process enhancements. Prior to joining AFC, Mr. Vertente worked at Kaman Aerospace Corp. In Mr. Vertente's tenure of 22 years, he was involved in many notable product introductions including our patented Color Spec Product. Along with several business acquisitions and plant consolidations, Mr. Vertente has been involved in many key projects to make AFC competitive in today's market place.

Mr. Vertente has a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Southeastern Massachusetts University (currently UMass-Dartmouth).


Controller

Keith ShermanMr. Sherman has worked with AFC Cable Systems for 11-years. Previously, Mr. Sherman served as Director of Finance for Intermark Fabric Corporation, located in Plainfield, CT. Immediately prior to Intermark, Mr. Sherman worked with Ernst & Young as an audit senior within the Southern New England area.

He is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island where he received a Bachelor's degree with an Accounting major. He earned his CPA license in 1995 from the State of Rhode Island.

Director of Cable Operations

Albilio FernandesMr. Fernandes joined AFC in 1990 shortly after completing his undergraduate degree. He is responsible for all manufacturing operations at AFC. Mr. Fernandes has held various positions within AFC including roles in quality assurance, process engineering, Plant Manager of ACS Unit 2, Plant Manager of AFC Fullerton and Plant Manager of FDR, AFC's largest Plant.

Mr. Fernandes has a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts and an MBA from the Phoenix University.

Director of Human Resources

Ed VerissimoMr. Verissimo joined AFC in 1994. He has a broad and diversified background spanning over 30 years in labor relations, human resources and environmental health and safety. Mr. Verissimo has actively negotiated the Companies labor agreements and has been a key participant in the Company's employee engagement initiatives including outsourcing, consolidation and acquisition integration initiatives. Prior to joining AFC, Mr. Verissimo held various Human Resources leadership positions with Union Industries in Providence, Rhode Island and Chamberlain Manufacturing, Inc. and John I. Paulding, Inc. both in New Bedford, Massachusetts.
