FOREWORD 107
1) This document is a recommendation for national use and is published as a technical specification accepted by 108 the Norwegian National Committee, NEK 109
2) In order to promote international unification, IEC National Committees undertake to apply IEC International 110 Standards transparently to the maximum possible extent in their national and regional standards. Any 111 divergence between the IEC Standard and the corresponding national or regional standard shall be clearly 112 indicated in the latter. 113
3) The NEK provides no marking procedure to indicate its approval and cannot be rendered responsible for any 114 equipment declared to be in conformity with one of its standards. 115
4) Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this technical specification may be subject of 116 patent rights. The NEK shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights. 117
The main task of IEC technical committees is to prepare International Standards. In 118 exceptional circumstances, a technical committee may propose the publication of a technical 119 specification when 120
• the required support cannot be obtained for the publication of an International Standard, 121 despite repeated efforts, or 122
• the subject is still under technical development or where, for any other reason, there is the 123 future but no immediate possibility of an agreement on an International Standard. 124
This Technical Specification will live until it is transferred to IEC Standards by NK 18A. 125
NEK TS 606, which is a technical specification, has been prepared by the Norwegian National 126 subcommittee 18A: Cable and Cable installations and the text of this technical specification is 127 based on the withdrawn NEK TS 606:2009 4th ed. 128
This publication has been drafted in accordance with the ISO/IEC Directives, Part 2. 129
The 5th edition cancels and replaces the 4th edition published 2009-05 and constitutes a 130 technical revision. 131
This edition includes the following significant changes with respect to the previous edition: 132
a) Standards for cable insulation IEC 60092-351 and cable sheathing materials IEC 133 60092-359 has been replaced by IEC 60092-360. Normative references for fire resistance 134 according to IEC 60331-1 and -2 have been added. 135
b) Chapter for oil and mud requirements for outer sheaths has been divided into a 136 mandatory minimum level and two optional levels of higher performance. The levels are: 1) 137 Minimum required oil resistance, 2) Enhanced oil resistance and 3) Mud resistance. New 138 requirements for hydraulic oil resistance are introduced. 139
c) Exxon HC fire curve has been removed. International recognized curve for HC fire has 140 been renamed to EN 1363-2. 141
d) Chapter for fire resistant cables has been expanded with new sections describing test 142 methods for 143
• Fire resistant test including water spray according to EN 50200 Annex E 144
• Jet fire (JF) resistant cables according to ISO 22899-1 145
e) Optional test for cold climate IEC 60092-350 clause 8.10 and Annex E has been 146 added 147
f) Old section 5.2 listing typical numbers of cores and cross sections has been deleted 148
g) Cable descriptions has been updated to include class 5 conductors 149
h) Cable descriptions for S-types has been updated to include XPLE insulation 150
i) New cable descriptions for RX/TX 1 kV and 250V single wires are included 151
This specification enters into force in 09/ 2015
