Prysmian endorses the Europacable Industry Charter as a formal commitment to defend quality standards in the cable industry

Prysmian Group, world leader in the energy and telecom cable systems industry announces the endorsement of the Europacable Industry Charter, a document that expresses a collective commitment to our shared principles and objectives of ethical, sustainable and high-quality cable development and manufacturing.

The Industry Charter is a formal expression of Europacable members' acknowledgement of the need to meet the demands of business stakeholders, while at the same time defending the interests of their employees, their customers, the wider community and the environment, with a strong commitment not only to meeting the basic requirements of the law, but also about expecting to take a proactive role in monitoring and evaluating emerging issues and finding innovative solutions that seek to exceed the minimum requirements.

The Charter was presented to Europacable members for signing on the occasion of the Europacable General Assembly back in late April 2015 and now that members have signed it and committed to fulfil the principles contained in the Charter, Europacable has launched it publicly.

Valerio Battista, Chairman & CEO of Prysmian Group and President of Europacable, declared: "Wire and cable products are essential to reliable, sustainable, affordable and publicly acceptable electricity and data transmission and Europacable member companies are global technology leaders in these sectors. We, as Europacable members, are committed to raise awareness and to elevate and defend quality and standards against the increasingly growing threat of substandard products. The Europacable Industry Charter is the expression of our collective commitment to shared principles and objectives of ethical, sustainable and high-quality cable development and manufacturing. By signing the Europacable Industry Charter we all accept to behave as responsible and quality-driven wire and cable manufacturers, as a sign of guarantee also for our customers."

Europacable gathers approximately 85% of the European wire and cable industry including the largest cable makers in the world. The production scope of its members covers the full range of insulated wires and cables, including energy, industrial, building, automotive, special application, metallic and optical fibre data and telecommunications wires and cables, as well as winding wires and medium voltage accessories. Europacable represents the wire and cable industry in EU policy debates as trusted source of technical information on wire and cable products, actively engaged in standardization processes and committed to increase the visibility of the European wire and cable industry.
