Company profile

Padanaplast, today Finproject S.p.A. (A Versalis -Eni- Company), is based in Roccabianca nera Parma in Italy and was among the first companies to produce and market silane crosslinked polyethylene worldwide. The production plant consist of 39,000 square meters, of which 18,000 covered, and is equipped with 15 advance compounding lines. Employ 125 people dynamic and expert who work together in efficient teams combining the strength of experience with technology know-how. Beacon of experience and innovation since 1971, Finproject is one of the world leader in silane crosslinkable polyolefin compounds for Wire&Cable, Pipes&Fittings and special applications.


Our history

Padanaplast began life at the Roccabianca factory in Parma. Initially it produced PVC compounds.
In the 1978 began the production of innovative silane crosslinkable polyolefin-based compounds. Thanks to the high thermo-mechanical material performance quickly found many applications and became extensivly used on Wire& Cable and in Pipes-Fittings sector, enlarging the company WW expansion.
In the 1990 PVC compounds divison was sold, and Padanaplast became a leader on crosslinkable polyolefin-based compounds. In 2000, Padanaplast was aquired by Solvay Group, strengthening its leadership of specialty ambient cure crosslinkable compounds.
In 2017, Padanaplast was acquired from Solvay by Finproject, a company with international reach and a vertically integrated structure consisting of nine operating and production units in Italy and worldwide. Today Padanaplast is formally merged into the parent company Finproject S.p.A. (Versalis, Eni).

Padanaplast S.p.A. established to produce PVC compounds
1978

Production begins on XLPE silane crosslinked polyethylene compounds (Sioplas®)
1982

Production starts on both thermoplastic and crosslinkable Halogen-Free Flame Retardant (HFFR) compounds (Sioplas®)
1984

Production gets underway on crosslinkable compounds, XL-Elastomer, elastomer-based XLEPR (Sioplas®)
1990

End of PVC compound production
1994

ISO 9002 certification obtained

ISO 9001 certification obtained
2000

Padanaplast S.p.A becomes part of Solvay Group, strengthening its positioning and leadership in the pipe and cable market special compound segment
2002

ISO 9001 Vision 2000
2011

ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and BS OHSAS 18001
2017

Padanaplast acquired by Finproject Group
2020

Padanaplast obtained the certification PSV (Plastica Seconda Vita)
2021

Finproject and Padanaplast joined the Eni Versalis Group.

Padanaplast, like the Finproject Group as a whole, has a mission to develop increasingly innovative, high performance materials in close collaboration with its customers and partners, to guarantee the highest possible quality standards in terms of the performance, safety and scope of products and their endless industrial applications.
With this basic aim, the road map drawn up by management puts a strong emphasis on the creation of technology and production synergy between Finproject Group companies and Padanaplast, leading to the creation of an international center of excellence in polyolefin-based crosslinkable compounds.
