NEXANS SECURES SUBSTANTIAL CONTRACT FOR GOTLAND ELECTRICITY CONNECTION PROJECT

Paris, December 19th, 2024 – Nexans has been awarded a significant contract by Svenska kraftnät, the Swedish transmission system operator, for the Gotland Connection Project. The project includes the delivery and installation of 320 km of 220 kV HVAC subsea and onshore cables to reinforce the electricity connection between Gotland and mainland Sweden.

The Gotland Connection Project is scheduled for completion by mid-2030. It will strengthen the electricity supply to Gotland, where increasing electricity demand is driven by industrial development and renewable energy projects. The upgraded connection will also support the Swedish government's ambition to transition to a carbon-neutral industry.

The cables will be manufactured at Nexans' facilities and will incorporate proven technology to ensure reliability and suitability for renewable energy applications.
