Who are the top 15 global cable makers?

The merger of Prysmian and Draka, which was approved on Friday 4th February 2011, will create the largest cable maker worldwide in dollar terms.

Prysmian is one of the world's largest producers of utility power cable, specialty cable/OEM/industrial (shipboard, windfarm, oil and gas, transportation) and fibre optic cable.

Draka is also one of the largest producers of specialty cable worldwide (shipboard, windfarm, oil and gas, transportation), and through its YOFC subsidiary one of the leading optical fibre and fibre optic cable producers in China.



he combined group overtakes Nexans and Sumitomo Electric (SEI). SEI has been performing strongly in Asia, and has seen recovery in its electronic wire business.

LS Cable and General Cable are now vying for third and fourth place globally.
