Turkey's largest copper field found in Kastamonu

Sub-governor of Hanonu town in Kastamonu Baris Isler said that 22 million tonne copper reserve was found in drilling works.

Isler told AA that, after the research of the Asya Mining Company (AMC), 10 million tonne copper reserve has been found at the first step last year.

Isler said that AMC continued with drilling works for a year, adding, "In the drilling work,  22 million tonne copper reserve was found. Here is the Turkey's largest copper field. Additionaly, General Directorate of Mineral Research & Exploration (MRA), Eti-Copper, Sarkuysan Company are still continuing drilling works."

Isler said that a factory will be established for extracting the copple mining from the ground at the last quarter of next year, adding, "Hanonu will be a town where mine owners will settle."
