Tropical Cable and Conductor Limited (TCCL)
From its location on 8 fully built-up acres of land in Ghana's Industrial Port City of Tema, Tropical Cable & Conductor Limited (TCCL), incorporated in 1997, has made impressive progress.
TCCL has a production capacity currently at 8,000 tonnes of Copper and Aluminium per annum. This phenomenal growth has been achieved by manufacturing world-class quality conductors and cables for West Africa's Energy, Real Estate, Construction, and Mining sectors.
Tropical Cable and Conductor's remarkable growth is embellished by several firsts.
On incorporation in 1997, it became the first wholly Ghanaian owned manufacturer in this technologically challenging area.
In 2003, the company was the first cable manufacturing company to be listed in the prestigious Ghana Club 100, a listing of Ghana's top 100 companies, and has continued to feature regularly on that list.
In 2004, the quest for excellence in cable manufacturing was further enhanced with the certification of the quality management system to the internationally acclaimed ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems Certification. Again, TCCL was the first cable manufacturer in West Africa to achieve certification.
TCCL's excellent technical and marketing expertise have seen its market share increase steadily in the highly competitive market. As a result of superior understanding of customers' needs, the company strategically commissioned new armouring lines in 2006 for the manufacture of Underground Power Cables. The company was the first manufacturer of Armoured cables in Ghana.
In 2007, an Aluminium Rod Manufacturing subsidiary, Western Rod & Wire Limited was set up, and remains the only Aluminium Rod Manufacturing plant in West Africa.
In 2010, TCCL launched the Tropical Student Support Initiative. This foundation provides scholarships to needy students admitted to undergraduate programs in the University of Ghana. There is a special emphasis on young ladies studying Science and Mathematics.
TCCL maintains procurement systems that aim at supporting indigenous small-scale businesses.
In 2015, TCCL became the first cable manufacturer in Ghana to commence compounding of its own insulation and sheathing materials. This also serves the Cable Manufacturing industry in Ghana and West Africa producing about 2,000 tonnes of PVC annually.
In 2019, TCCL became the first manufacturer in Ghana to commission its Copper Tinning Line, to be able to meet the growing demand for Photovoltaic Cables for Solar Energy installations.
TCCL continues to be a dynamic and innovative company, evidenced by our rapidly expanding product range to be at par with the evolving technological trends and meet the growing market demands.
In 2021, TCCL became the first local company to be awarded a contract for the electrification of 234 communities across the northern sector of Ghana. The work involves the supply and erection of distribution lines for over 2,000km of high- and low-tension lines.
In 2022, TCCL was the first indigenous cable manufacturer to produce RG6 Coaxial and CAT6 Cables as an addition to its communication cables product line.
In the next decade we intend to increase our efforts and consolidate our vision of becoming an African Industrial Giant. In the next decade we intend to increase our efforts and consolidate our vision of becoming an African Industrial Giant.
