The present-day Südkabel GmbH has changed its name several times over the past 100 years. What's never changed, though, is the firm's commitment to quality and innovation: yesterday, today and tomorrow. n geändert.

    The cable factory was founded in Mannheim, Germany back in 1898, unter the name of Süddeutsche Kabelwerke (Südkabel)
    In 1970, several different companies merged to Kabel- und Lackdrahtfabriken GmbH (Kabel+Draht).
    Kabel+Draht was for 18 years owned by Brown, Boveri & Cie. AG (BBC). Following the creation of the ABB Group with the merger between Asea and BBC, the company's name was changed to ABB Kabel und Draht GmbH in 1988.
    Since 1997, the power cable activities were continued under the company name of ABB Energiekabel GmbH.
    On January 1st, 2004, the Wilms Group acquired the cable and accessory plant with all its operations in Mannheim from ABB. Since then, the company has once again borne the evocative name of Südkabel GmbH.

Professional planning is the basis
Professional planning is very important. It represents the sustainable success of your project. Already during the project pre-phase you may count on the experiences of our engineers. We assist you in selecting the appropriate system solutions. We provide for example load-flow calculations and optimize your possible solutions.

Planning and Project Management determine success
We plan and design cable systems according to our client's requirements. Especially to start complexe projects our experiences and knowledges are helpful.
Searching the most economic solution, developping of client's specific constructions, optimizing the maximum transfer power or application of suitable earthing or cross-bonding methods.

Furthermore we support you in planning the best route course and in complying with environmental regulations.

Based on this we represent the technical realisation of your project. This helps to provide for all contingencies. After consultation with you we document the results in a specification. Thus all economically, ecologically, quality and safety relevant aspects are fixed mandatory.

The right material to the right place at right time
After contract award the professional and timely project settlement is in safe hands of the project manager. He will be supported by a project team depending on the volume of the order. Now he has to manage that all necessary products and materials of the project are at the right time at the right place.

Installation
Installation of cables and accessories couldn't be in better hands than those of Südkabel's specialists. From innumerable projects and direct liaison with the factory, our fitters possess the requisite experience, and keep their expertise continually up to date in regular training courses.
