General Cable and Power Line Systems — Expanding collaborative partnerships

General Cable (NYSE: BGC) is excited to announce that it has formed a collaborative partnership with Power Line Systems, Inc., a company that has dedicated over 30 years as engineering software designers for structural analysis and design of overhead power lines. Power Line Systems' industry standard line design program PLS-CADD™ is General Cable's and the Industry's sag-tension software of choice. A full complement of overhead conductor sag and tension coefficient data files have been calculated and are available for immediate use in PLS-CADD software by our mutual customers.

"Building this strong collaborative relationship with Power Line Systems supports our strategic commitment to the electric utility overhead transmission and distribution market. General Cable looks forward to helping the line designers utilizing PLS software tools by demonstrating the advantages of our latest development in technologies such as our TransPowr® Overhead Conductors with E3X™ Technology." said Jay Lahman, Vice President and General Manager, General Cable Electric Utility Products. "General Cable brings innovative wire and cable technology backed by years of industry-recognized overhead conductor design engineering expertise to Power Line Systems' software with our complimentary full array of sag and tension coefficient conductor data files."

"We are pleased about this opportunity to make General Cable's impressive conductor products available with our software for our many mutual customers," said Otto Lynch, Vice President of Power Line Systems, Inc.  "Using our new web interface, General Cable conductors can now be selected for entire projects in PLS-CADD, for single site 'joint use' structural and clearance calculations in PLS-CADD Lite, and for quick single conductor sag and tension calculations and stringing charts in our newly released PLS-CADD Ultralite. The ability for General Cable to provide additional conductor models for non-standard sized conductors is a significant benefit for all overhead line designers worldwide."
