What is the ANSI/NEMA/ICEA Cable Standards ?

The distribution of electrical power incorporates a wide range of systems and devices for transporting electricity through the grid to the user. Standardization can assure reliability in the performance of this equipment and any associated practices, and a multitude of relevant standards have been published. The ANSI/NEMA/ICEA Cable Standards Set comprises these documents. As stated by Richard Beggs, Insulated Cable Engineers Association (ICEA) Secretary, these standards cover "power and utility products and, to a lesser extent, telecommunication products." As such, they are applicable for use by the utility, as well as others involved with energy distribution and the electrical grid.
