Skin effect is a phenomenon present in AC circuits, where the current tends to distribute itself near the conductor surface. This causes the current density at the surface of a conductor to be greater than in its core. A longitudinal element near the center of the conductor axis is surrounded by more magnetic field lines than a conductor element at the rim. This causes an increase in inductance towards the center. The decreased conductivity
results in an apparent increase in resistance. [7]
