What does it mean Low Smoke Zero Halogen ( LSZH or LS0H ) ?

LSZH
LSZH simply translates to Low Smoke Zero Halogen and refers to the behavior of
chemical compounds when combusted - specifically the quantity of smoke generated
and the toxicity of the emissions. Tricab uses only materials generating less than 0.5%
HCL emissions

Low Smoke Halogen Free Cable Terminology

Listed below are some of the terms used to reference low smoke and halogen free cables. There are many different types of similar cable and it is important to understand the correct terminology for the correct product that you are sourcing.


ZH - Zero Halogen
LSHF - Low Smoke Halogen Free
LSZH - Low Smoke Zero Halogen
LS0H - Low Smoke Zero Halogen
0HLS - Zero Halogen Low Smoke
LSF - Low Smoke and Fume

What does LSZH mean?

The term LSZH cable (Low smoke zero halogen) generally applies to the cable's jacketing which is typically constructed from thermoset or thermoplastic materials that, whilst under conditions of high heat or exposed to flame, will emit no halogen and a very limited smoke output.

A low smoke halogen free cable has to conform to a number of requirements before it can be deemed low smoke halogen free cable. A cable must pass 3 tests before it can be confirmed to be LSZH. These tests check smoke density, halogen content and flame transmission, and all research must stringently adhere to IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) and VDE (Verband der Elektrotechnik) standards.
