ADVARIS Cable MES on the Winners' Podium

In this year's assessment and ranking of manufacturing execution systems (MES) carried out by Landshut-based industrial consultants MES Consult, the ADVARIS company from Bruchsal, Germany, has gained a place among the best eight. MES is a core element of "ADVARIS Cable", the operations management system for length-based manufacturers. Economist Klaus Thiel of MES-Consult comments: "ADVARIS has a very good manufacturing execution system tailored to the relevant sectors (cable, wire, litz wire, and rope). In the opinion of MES-Consult, the ADVARIS system could also be used in other industries with drum-based manufacturing. The system is impressive because the basic design includes all three main components of a sophisticated MES. The fact that the structure is based on SOA elements throughout, and makes use of modern in-memory technology, also deserves a special mention."

In his product evaluations, the MES expert adhered strictly to the standards of the ISA (International Society of Automation) and the guidelines of the Association of German Engineers (VDI) which are derived from them. He also added some more stringent criteria of his own. The ADVARIS Cable MES got top marks for its "manufacturing flow design" with the functions of "product definition management" and "resources management", as well as for its "manufacturing flow planning". The ADVARIS system was also praised for its flexibility and the ease with which it can be integrated into an existing on-site system landscape. The decision to consistently base the system on service oriented architecture (SOA) also contributed to the Bruchsal company's overall success. Two other reasons for the very positive assessment by MES-Consult were the intensive advice with which ADVARIS supports their customers, and the fact that its systems can be implemented on site in a very short time.

ADVARIS CEO Dr. Manfred Moser sees this accolade as a confirmation of his product strategy: "With our MES we have always been geared to manufacturing plants with a wide range of variations. Since production-specific adjustment is part of the standard system, our product can be very finely tuned to the customer's requirements, while still remaining completely release compatible. With the current version of ADVARIS Cable, we are also in an ideal position to effectively increase productivity in other sectors of industry."
