Leoni, the leading provider of cables and cable systems to the automotive sector and other industries, has obtained a major contract from the Indian producer Reliance Industries Ltd. The project involving wiring at Jamnagar, the world's largest oil and gas refinery, is worth about EUR 22 million.

The cables spec ialist already equipped the first two construction phases of the largest single- sit e refinery plant in the world wit h highquality, Special Cables. These were still made exc lusively at Leoni's facility in Stolberg, Germany. Leoni will be manufac turing half of t he product s now ordered, 80 perc ent of whic h are to be made and delivered before the end of this year, locally at its plant in Pune, which was opened in 2013.

This order from Reliance, a long- st anding cust omer, undersc ores the significance of India t o Leoni's business, given that the country promises appealing, medium and long- term growt h prospects for several of the Company's t arget market s. Alongside the oil and gas sector, these are above all the automotive industry, rolling stock as well as photovoltaic and solar thermal plants. Leoni built its cables plant near Pune to be able to better supply it s regional customers in India and neighbouring countries.
