Sumitomo Electric Lightwave unveils industry's first LGX-HD patch panel product line for data center connectivity at BICSI winter 2014

Sumitomo Electric Lightwave (www.sumitomoelectric.com), a major leader in the development and manufacturing of optical fiber and connectivity solutions today announced the introduction of its new 4th Level DataCenter Solutions LGX and High Density (HD) patch panel product line, the industry's first LGX and HD panel in one. The new panels will be unveiled at the 2014 BICSI Winter Conference & Exposition in Orlando, Fl from February 3-5, along with other new 4th Level data center products.

"Dedicated to continuous innovation, we continue to strive to bring new, better, and cost saving solutions for our data center and enterprise network customers"

The primary differentiating factor from preexisting patch panels in the industry is that the 4th Level 1, 2, 3, and 4RU patch panels can be configured for various module footprints including LGX and HD, an option for both in the same panel, and other customized configurations. The 2RU can be configured with up to 288 LC connectors. By simply interchanging faceplates and standard cassette products from different manufacturers, installers and network technicians can now experience increased flexibility, versatility in their network design, and hardware cost savings.

Prior to the 4th Level innovation, network installers would have to purchase a separate patch panel for LGX applications and another patch panel designed for their HD connectivity projects.

"Dedicated to continuous innovation, we continue to strive to bring new, better, and cost saving solutions for our data center and enterprise network customers," comments Bill Charuk, Sumitomo Electric Lightwave's 4th Level DataCenter Solutions' product manager. "Our goal is to listen to our customers' valuable input and to design the highest quality and most reliable data center and enterprise network products that keep them ahead of the curve of rapid technology change and the 40G/100G migration. The consistent achievement of this goal has been the foundation of 4th Level's success."

Other features of the panels include a user friendly design with shelf tray tilt or rear slide out for easy cable management access, innovative tray stop design that prevents unplanned tray egress from the patch panel, rugged construction of heavy gauge powder coated aluminum for extended product life, and mounting brackets that allow forward and backward adjustments within a standard 19" relay rack. The 4th Level panels are an ideal solution for data center, storage area network (SAN), and local area network (LAN) applications.

Sumitomo Electric Lightwave will also showcase at BICSI Winter, booth 1019, other new 4th Level products including MPO conversion cassettes and plenum and riser ribbon cables with patented Easy Split and Peel design. 4th Level products are showcased along with Sumitomo Electric Lightwave's FutureFLEX® Air-Blown Fiber®.
