Hyundai Steel Company to Build a New Combined Wire Rod and Bar Mill

Hyundai Steel Company has decided to build a new combined wire rod and bar mill in the city of Dangjin in South Chungcheong Province, South Korea. For this new mill HYUNDAI selected FRIEDRICH KOCKS GmbH & Co KG in Hilden, Germany that will supply a Reducing & Sizing Block as the finishing mill for the bar line.

The production of this mill will mainly be directed to supply special bar quality in engineered steel grades to HYUNDAI MOTOR COMPANY that is currently the fourth largest automaker in the world.

The 5 stand heavy duty block RSB AUL with a nominal roll diameter of 370 mm, features the well proven 3-roll design and is equipped with a closed loop Size Control System and a high speed remote control of passes and guides of the 3-roll stands in the mill line, which allows the implementation of stands adjustable under load (AUL).

After completion of the new 800,000 tonne per annum combined wire rod and bar mill the Reducing & Sizing Block will be able to finish roll the total production of straight and coiled bar in SBQ quality in all sizes within the dimensional range from 16.0 to 100.0 mm diameter.
