Pestech inks US$86m Deal for 198km Power Line in Cambodia

Pestech International Bhd has sealed a US$86.05mil (about RM282.58mil) contract to build a 198km power transmission line from the Sihanoukville area to Phnom Penh city.

It reported that it's unit Pestech (Cambodia) Ltd and Alex Corporation Co. Ltd of Cambodia for the design, installation and commission of the 230KV West Phnom Penh- Sihanoukville Transmission line and a substation extension project.

To recap, Alex Corp had on Nov 12, 2013 signed a 25-year power transmission agreement with Electricité du Cambodge.

"The project mainly involves the construction of a transmission line of approximately 198km, which will be responsible for the transmission of power from existing and future power plants in the Sihanoukville area to Phnom Penh city.

"This is done through upgrading of existing Stung Hav substation with two 230kV outgoing transmission line bays and connecting them to the West Phnom Penh substation in Phnom Penh through the new transmission line to be construction under the project," it said.

Pestech said the contract was anticipated to start three months from the date of the contract and to be completed within 32 months.
