McDermott Wins Two New Offshore Contracts in Middle East

US-based engineering firm McDermott International has won two new offshore contracts in the Middle East.

The contract with Qatar Petroleum requires McDermott to work on a new jacket, temporary deck and replacement umbilical for the North Field Alpha gas development, offshore Qatar.

The deal includes front-end engineering design verification, detailed engineering, procurement, construction, installation (EPCI) and commissioning of a new six-legged, 15-slot wellhead jacket and temporary drill deck, with a total weight of approximately 5,000t.

McDermott will also be responsible for decommissioning, removal, replacement and pre-commissioning of 2.6 miles of composite umbilical and fibre-optic cable in the Maydan Mahzam field.  Work is expected to be implemented through the second quarter of 2016.

Under the second contract with Saudi Aramco, McDermott Middle East will work on power supply system replacement for the Marjan field, offshore Saudi Arabia.  The deal includes EPCI and replacement of the decks of two existing tie-in platforms, as well as the removal and salvage of existing gas turbine generators.

McDermott will install two new 115kV subsea power and communication cables.  The initial scope of the work includes the engineering, procurement, fabrication and load-out of the platforms and cable.  Work is anticipated to be executed through the fourth quarter of 2016.

McDermott delivers fixed and floating production facilities, pipelines and subsea systems from concept to commissioning for complex offshore and subsea oil and gas projects to help oil firms produce and transport hydrocarbons.
