JDR to Speak at Power Cables for Offshore Oil & Gas Conference

JDR, a leading provider of technology connecting the global offshore energy industry, will share its experience in oil and gas power cable technology development at the 2014 Power Cables for Offshore Oil & Gas conference in London. The technical presentation, to be delivered by Peter Worrall, JDR's Product Director for Subsea Cables, will include discussions on JDR's latest work in medium and high voltage cables.

The electrification of subsea trees and the increasing use of subsea pumps and compressors are driving the need for subsea electrical grids. Mr. Worrall's presentation will focus on the essential requirements for larger power at longer step-out distances and the drivers behind innovating beyond the existing technological limits towards super-tension voltages.

The Power Cables for Offshore Oil & Gas Conference, to be held in Kensington, is dedicated to the rapidly expanding subsea cables issues for the offshore oil and gas industry. With a unique participant profile of operators, contractors, regulators and equipment suppliers, the event will provide a carefully tailored combination of commercial analysis, technical insights and operational guidance.

Peter first joined JDR in 2008 as Technical Director for Subsea Power Cables. He then spent a very successful 4 years leading the JDR engineering team in developing innovative subsea cable and umbilical products. After joining the Parker Hannifin compressed air and gas treatment and gas separation engineering team for two years, Peter returned to JDR in 2014 in his new title of Product Director. He has been instrumental in the design and implementation of many of JDR's technical advancements, including the WaveHub project and higher voltage cabling for both renewable and oil and gas applications. Peter holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Theoretical Physics from Imperial College and an MBA from Durham University Business School. He has also been an expert presenter and author on many subsea cable technical papers as well as a recipient of prestigious awards such as BAe Innovation Award and IWMA award for technical papers.
