HUBER+SUHNER Significantly Increases Sales and Order Intake

HUBER+SUHNER increased its net sales in the 2014 financial year by 4% to CHF 749 million. In organic growth terms (in local currency, without copper effect and portfolio effect neutralised) this actually represents an increase of 4.9%. Developments in order intake were even more dynamic, with a rise of over 12% to CHF 768 million.

The communication market increased significantly with Asia being the largest driver of growth. Thanks to the success in various new countries as part of the long term evolution (LTE) roll-outs, the mobile communication business was diversified globally. The transportation market stayed on the growth path as well. The positive stimulus in this sector came from China and South America whilst Europe remained at a good level. In industrial applications, however, sales was down. The reasons are further base effects in the solar market and budget cuts in the defence industry. The acquisition of Cube Optics in Mainz at the end of October opens up new opportunities with innovative fiber optic technologies. HUBER+SUHNER Cube Optics has made a positive contribution to the profit from the very outset and its integration into the HUBER+SUHNER Group is on track.

The massive increase in value of the Swiss franc since the decision of the Swiss National Bank on 15 January 2015 will have very negative effects on the sales and income prospects of HUBER+SUHNER during the current financial year. In addition to the presentation of the results for 2014, we will also present our assessment and the actions in this matter at the media and analysts conference on 10 March 2015.
