HUBER+SUHNER: Award for sustainable environmental management

At this year's CDP climate change reporting, HUBER+SUHNER was acknowledged as a "sector leader" in the field of industry. This award underlines the company's commitment to sustainable processes in all areas.

On the occasion of this year's CDP climate change reporting, HUBER+SUHNER achieved a leading position in the 'A-list' category among the 350 largest companies listed on the stock exchange and operating in the DACH region (Germany, Austria and Switzerland): The company was awarded the distinction of 'sector leader' in the field of industry for its commitment to sustainability and finished with 96 points out of a maximum of 100 – the best rating the company has achieved to date. The honour was bestowed yesterday in Bonn, Germany, as part of the CDP DACH Climate Leadership Award Conference & Ceremony. Dr Ulrich Schaumann, Member of the Executive Group Management and COO, Corporate Operations, IT and Quality, received the award in front of around 250 guests and declared: "We are delighted to receive this award as it underlines the commitment of HUBER+SUHNER to protecting the environment. We want not only to achieve excellent quality in our products, but also to ensure sustainable production."

CDP makes transparent reporting possible
In 2011, HUBER+SUHNER took part for the first time in the survey conducted by the Carbon Disclo-sure Project. As an international non-profit organisation, CDP makes it possible to ensure transparent reporting and to compare a company's own use of resources with that of its competitors. The intention is to promote measures designed to tackle climate change in strategic approach. Over 800 institutional investors and approximately 3000 companies take part worldwide.

Environmental protection pays off
Sustainability is an important topic for HUBER+SUHNER. That is why the company constantly en-deavours to reduce energy and water consumption in production as well as reducing the volume of waste and increasing the recycling ratio. It also proved possible to significantly reduce CO2 emissions: In Switzerland, a saving of around 3% was achieved in 2014, with the result that HUBER+SUHNER did not have to pay any CO2 duties, but was rewarded with a bonus from the Swiss Energy Agency (EnAW)
