Hartlepool Cable Firm JDR Cable Signs New Wind Energy Deal For Hybrid Power Steel Cable

Hartlepool-based JDR Cables has won a contract for the design and manufacture of a hybrid power steel cable.

The deal has been done with an organisation called Wintershall Noordzee B.V and it involves cable being supplied to the Ravn field development which is in the North Sea.  JDR will deliver more than ten miles of cable to provide power and control to the field.

The project will also connect a new platform to an existing platform so that long-term well testing can be done off the Danish coast.

The product will be manufactured and loaded out at JDR's deep-water, quayside Hartlepool facility. It is scheduled to be completed in the third quarter of 2015.

The Hartlepool firm has won a string of recent deals. They include a contract to supply 62 miles of cable for the Vattenfall AB Sandbank offshore wind farm.

It is the latest boost for the firm which, in August, won a deal to provide more than 40 miles of cable for the Nordsee One Offshore wind farm, which is 25 miles north of the German Juist island.

And just last month, JDR was awarded a contract to manufacture more than 60 miles of copper core cable for the Statoil/Statkraft Dudgeon offshore wind farm, which is off the Norfolk coast.
