Thin-wall cables for small applications and use in tight spaces

With the global trend towards ever-smaller applications and equipment; Habia Cable has developed a range of thin-wall products with materials suitable for the requirements of a smaller 'footprint', providing cables in areas where space is limited.

From gas turbines to medical equipment, the space envelope available for a sensor cable is getting smaller and smaller. At Habia Cable we have long been aware of this market trend and have been adjusting our processes and materials to meet the need for these special cables.

"Today we can produce products in accordance with the customer's desire for small size cables. Conductors, insulation and the outer sheath, all can be made very thin. Thinner materials mean there is room for more cores within the same original envelope" says Stefan Willmann, head of Habia Cable's facility in Norderstedt, Germany which specialises in the manufacture of the very thinnest cables.

Increased capacity

In Habia Cable's Norderstedt facility, multi-core cables with a finished OD of 1.4mm can be produced. Substantial investments have been made to improve the production efficiency of these thin-wall cables. With the increase in capacity comes the possibility to meet the increase in demand. Delivery times have been shortened with single conductor cables available in 2-3 weeks and multicore cables in 4-5 weeks.
