Ducab, DWE Sign MoU for Partnership on Women Leadership Exchange Program

Dubai Cable Company (DUCAB) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with The Dubai Women Establishment (DWE) for ongoing partnership and collaboration towards empowering Emirati women in the workplace and especially in the private sector. The MoU also included the first agreement of the collaboration, as part of which Ducab will sponsor the annual "Women Leadership Exchange Program" (WLEP) organized by DWE in collaboration with the Women for Sustainable Growth (W4SG) network and Sweden-based MiL Institute.

The MoU was signed at the premises of DWE by H.E. Dr. Ahmad bin Hassan Al Shaikh, Chairman of Ducab, the leading cable manufacturing company in the region, and H.E. Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Chairperson of the Board of Dubai Women Establishment.

The agreement identifies specific areas of cooperation between Ducab and DWE to support WLEP and will see Ducab enroll as a key strategic partner on the pioneering developmental initiative, which aims to enhance the leadership capabilities of women in the UAE through the sharing of knowledge on sustainable leadership practices and through acquainting them with findings of the latest research in the field of leadership and cross-cultural communication.

"The Women Leadership Exchange Program is a transformational development program that enables women in the UAE to achieve their full potential and contribute to the nation-building process, and we at Ducab are delighted to extend our support to this landmark initiative. Ducab has a long history of investing in leadership training and particularly in developing the UAE's female human capital - identifying promising young talents and grooming them to occupy leadership positions within our organization. We look forward to working closely with the DWE to ensure the continued success of the Program and enable a greater number of Emirati women to stride confidently into the future." said Dr. Ahmad Bin Hassan Al Shaikh, Chairman "Ducab".

He added, "Our company is committed to supporting women in leadership, in alignment with the UAE leadership's key priorities, as outlined at the UAE Government Summit. As Exclusive Sponsor of the Program for 2015, and the first company to provide support of this kind, we aim to encourage more women to explore the potential of the nation's industrial sector by raising awareness of the employment opportunities we offer, while inspiring other companies to consider women's empowerment at the top of their priorities."

H.E. Mona Ghanem Al Marri said "The corporate sector has a vital role to play in the social and economic development of the UAE, and Ducab's support of the Women Leadership Exchange Program - which was launched under the direction of H.H. SheikhaManalbint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Women Establishment, wife of HH Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, UAE - underlines the growing trend among public and private organizations to invest directly in leadership and developmental programs with a view to foster the next generation of female leaders who will move the nation forward,".

As part of the agreement,  Mrs. Mona Mohamed Fekri, General Manager – Human Recourses, from DUCAB will  be part of the WLEP selection committee. The MoU also entails cooperation between the two entities in implementing organizational practices and initiatives supporting a women-friendly environment in the workplace.

The strategic partnership between Ducab and DWE follows the announcement of the third edition of WLEP, which will feature 15 Emirati women from the government and private sectors and will be held over two phases. The first phase will take place from 31 May – 7 June 2015 in Sweden, where the participants will have the opportunity to meet and interact with pioneering Swedish leaders from various fields. The second phase of the Program will take place in the UAE in November 2015; this week-long phase will aim to promote the self-development and team management capabilities of participants and will also involve practical applications of their learnings and experiences within a team environment to measure their leadership progress in addition to getting introduced to Ducab as a local organization that supports talent growth in the region.
