Charter Wire's Plans for $20 Million Expansion Advances

Charter Wire's Plans for $20 Million Expansion Advances

Charter Wire is proceeding with the long-planned expansion of its factory in Milwaukee's Menomonee Valley Industrial Center, creating about 35 jobs.

Charter Wire will add 69,000 square feet and new production equipment to its 160,000-square-foot factory, according to information filed with the Milwaukee Economic Development Corp. That proposed expansion is being driven by greater demand for pipes from the oil and natural gas industries.

The $20 million project consists of about $14 million in new equipment and $6 million for the building expansion, according to MEDC, a nonprofit business lender affiliated with the City of Milwaukee.

The project will increase Charter Wire's workforce at the building from 116 employees to as many as 151 full-time employees, according to information filed with MEDC.

"Our growth is made possible by the dedication, effort, customer-focus and drive for continuous improvement demonstrated by every member of the Charter Wire team," said Mark Wild, vice president and general manager, in a statement.
