Cerro Wire donates building wire to helping a hero project in Minnesota

Cerro Wire LLC, a leading manufacturer of copper electrical building wire and cable, announces that their NNB residential wire will be used to complete Helping a Hero's latest project in Elysian, MN. Cerro Wire donated thousands of feet of wire, which will be used as part of a new home for disabled veteran SPC Jack Zimmerman, USA and his family.

SPC Zimmerman lost both of his legs in an IED explosion in Afghanistan and suffered permanent damage to his right arm. He and his wife Megan are expecting their first child in May of 2013, and Helping A Hero aims to have the home complete in time for the baby's arrival.

Helping a Hero builds specially adapted homes for severely injured military personnel and their families. These homes are designed with features such as wider doors, lower counters, and roll-in showers, which allow returning heroes to maintain their independence and adjust to the new circumstances of their disabilities. Steffens Electric will oversee the construction of the Elysian, MN home.

"Cerro Wire is proud to be a part of this project," said Dale Crawford, Director of Marketing and Value Development at Cerrowire's Electrical Distribution Division. "SPC Zimmerman has sacrificed so much for his country, and we are honored to give back to him in whatever way we can. We are so thankful that the Rouzer Group and Viking Electric invited us to participate in Helping a Hero's important mission, and we hope our high-quality wire will help make this home a comfortable place for SPC Zimmerman and his family."
