Bahra Cables Co. signs contract for SR127m with Hyundai Heavy Industries

Bahra Cables Co. signed a contract for SR. 127 million with Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) whereby Bahra Cables supplies low and medium voltage cables for the use Jeddah South Thermal Power Plant stage-1(JSTPP), which costs US Dollar 3.2 billion ( SR. 12 billion) and owned by Saudi Electricity Company, will generate 2400-2800 MW of electricity enough for 2 million people.

Engineer Talal Idriss, CEO of Bahra Cables Co. commented on the contract by saying: "Bahra Cables daily adds more clients to its network of clients of large local, regional and international companies that trust our products of cables which meet all requirements and highest international standards."

The new agreement comes a few days after the signing two MoUs with the two French companies "AREVA" and "EDF", where both companies will implement projects in Saudi Arabia within the nuclear power program of King Abdullah City for Atomic and renewable Energy (K.A.CARE).

He added: "The Government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, and his Crown Prince, is very keen to execute mega projects that will provide a better life for citizens and residents of Saudi Arabia. Jeddah South Thermal Power Plant will add 2400-2800 MW of electricity for domestic and industrial use, and will reduce loads on the existing power plants, and ensures a constant flow of electric current, which, in return, improves lives of millions of people, a goal that our Government is very keen to pursue. "

Engineer Talal Idriss explained that Bahra Cables products enjoy the trust of industrial and construction sectors, which enabled the company to partake in the implementation of many projects in Saudi Arabia, and meet all the needed requirements.

He further added that Bahra Cables meet all international standards, as it always did since its inception. Bahra Cables produces various kinds of cables including high, medium and low voltage cables which are fire resistant and do not emit smoke or toxic and suffocating gases in case of electric circuit shortage

Bahra Cables got a number of accreditation certificates such as (KEMA, IPH, SASO, LPCB, CSA, BASEC), and others for its production of power cables.

The company, as well, got ISO 9001: 2008 for its collection of medium and high voltage cables up to 132 kV. Meanwhile, Bahra Cables is the first Saudi cable manufacturer gets ISO 14001: 2004, and OHSAS 18001:2007 .
