Alfanar Construction - power & water awarded 2 critical power projects worth SR1.9 billion

The Saudi Electricity Company has awarded two large scale power projects to Alfanar Construction totaling more than SR 1.9 billion; the Reinforcement of Hail 2 Power Plant – Expansion III and Construction of High Speed Harmain Railway Substations, are one of the few lumpsum contracts awarded to a single EPC company by SEC. The projects were signed by the Chairman of Board, Saudi Electricity Company Dr. Saleh Al Awaji, and Eng. Sabah Al Mutlaq, Vice Chaiman, alfanar.

The Reinforcement of Hail 2 Power Plant- Extension III project is aimed to increase the generation capacity of electric power and to meet the future load demand and to support the existing generation capability of Hail area. The project will enhance the generation capacity of the existing power plant by an additional 280 MW in open cycle that will enable for future conversion of the plant into combined cycle. The project will be on a fast track basis as the first two units will be online in August 2012. Due to its proven experience in delivering projects with a challenging time schedule, alfanar Construction – Power & Water was awarded the project.

The Construction of High Speed Harmain Railway Substations project will supply power to the upcoming double-track high speed Harmain railway and will include the construction of Six (6) new 380kV Sub Stations. The project will be an extremely fast track project as all the Six(6) sub stations shall be completed and put into service in 24 Months.

The company enjoys proven track record in executing high quality projects delivered in a very short time span. It had recently commissioned the reinforcement works at the Sharourah Power Plant and expected to commission the Hail II Extension III power plant before summer of this year. Thus ensuring stable power supply to the Region during this peak demand period.
