Abengoa Wins Contract for Brazilian Transmission Project

The Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (ANEEL) chose Abengoa to carry out a new electricity transmission project in the country. The investment equals an amount of $ 228.6 million and it is foreseen that Abengoa will directly contribute about $26.8 million.

Abengoa will be responsible for carrying out the engineering, design, construction, maintenance and commissioning of the electricity transmission concession, which will cover 228 miles, ensuring the highest levels of quality at every stage. The line will come into operation in September 2017.

The concession comprises a 228 mile transmission line with a capacity of 500 kV between the Marimbondo II and Campinas substations. The project is located in the states of Sao Paulo and Minas Gerais in southeast Brazil.

Abengoa has already carried out other projects for the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency, including the Linha Verde and Norte Brasil lines; and the most recent project awarded in May, which involves three new lines with a total length of 1,242 miles.

This latest project will further develop Abengoa's experience in transmission lines, consolidating its leadership of this sector in Latin America, where it has more than 13,670 miles of this type of transmission projects. It has also participated in developing nearly 7456 miles of electricity transport infrastructures in Brazil.
