Senergy to present at Offshore Cables Forum

Energy services firm Senergy is to share its expertise at the Offshore Cables Forum taking place in London this week.

Richard Orren, Senergy's Global Technical Head of Survey & GeoEngineering, will deliver a presentation focusing on how to ensure that the important and distinct needs of cables are taken into account when designing and managing survey and site investigation workscopes for offshore wind developments. The presentation will emphasise how to get maximum value for money spent on survey works, and maximize the reduction of risks to cables; damaged cabling is proving to be a key cost area for offshore windpower.

The Offshore Cables Forum, the fourth annual event organized by Wind Power Monthly looking at the latest methods for cable installation and the reliability and performance of subsea power cables over the life of an offshore wind farm, runs from 12-14 February.

Richard's presentation, entitled, The Needs Of Cables: The Cinderella Of Wind Farm Development Surveys And Site Investigations? How To Avoid The Common Survey Pitfalls And Maximise The Value Of The Data Gathered, will reflect the experience gained by Senergy Survey & GeoEngineering in managing site and route surveys for the offshore wind and renewables industry since 2005, as well as lessons learned over many years of oil and gas, power and telecoms related survey work.

Richard is a geophysicist with 34 years' experience in the offshore survey industry, in the application and management of engineering geophysics. Starting his career in the seismic exploration sector, he moved into engineering geosciences in the survey contracting field. In his present role, Richard manages engineering geophysics consulting activities on both renewables and oil and gas work. He has a degree in Geophysical Sciences and is a member of the Offshore Site Investigation and Geotechnics committee of the Society for Underwater Technology.
