History


1879 –The company "Ditta Maccaferri Raffaele Officina da Fabbro" is registered at the Chamber of Commerce.

1893 – Manufacture of the first soil erosion control gabions, patented by "Officine Maccaferri".

1936 - S.A.M.P. - Società Anonima Meccanica di Precisione is founded and established as a member of the Maccaferri Industrial Group for the production of wire drawing machines for ferrous materials; looms for weaving metallic meshes; general mechanical parts; and gears.

1965 – Production of wire drawing lines, also for non ferrous wires (copper, aluminium or alloys of the same).

1968 - Manufacture of the first cable extrusion lines and the "locomotive" type extruder.

Late '70s - Marketing of the first multiwire drawing machine (an 8-wire solution) with a static spooler; several hundred machines have since been manufactured.

1976 – The company "McDraw" of Williamsport,Maryland (USA) is established, later to become SAMP USA in 1979.

1984 – The first extrusion lines with line process supervisors are engineered.

1986 – The first steel-slipping, wet drawing and copper clad lines for welding wires are produced.

1992 - SAMP enters the bunching market; more than 650 bunching machines have since been manufactured. Production of the first LAN cable insulation lines. The SAMP Moscow regional office is unveiled.

1997 – Manufacture of the first physical-expansion telecom cable extrusion lines. On 1 January 2001, SAMP acquires assets and founds SAMP Extrusion, thus bringing to life Sampsistemi.

1998 - Production of the first automatic precision respooling machines for welding wires.

1998 - Manufacture of the first 40-wire drawing line and FEP physical-expansion foam/skin extrusion lines.

2000 – A Sampsistemi service centre is opened in Shanghai. Manufacture of the first limited-slip, 4-wire rod breakdown machine and of the BM2x315-D double-twist bunching machine.

2001 – The SAMP Far East regional office is founded in Kuala Lumpur. Manufacture of up to 7200-ampere, multiwire drawing machine annealers.

2002 – Production of automotive wire extrusion lines with the integrated "SAMP-0-SCRAP" quick colour-change system. Expansion of the Bologna headquarters with the construction of new office space.

2003 - Manufacture of extrusion lines, tandemised with the Sampsistemi-patented SZ process. Production of a dual automatic respooling machine for reels up to 1600 mm and of the MDC300  dual automatic coiler.

2004 – Production of the BM2x630-D twin double twist bunching machine and of the first 48-wire drawing machine. Sampsistemi Shanghai expands to produce machines and components in loco.

2006 - Sampsistemi returns to its roots, merging with Sampingranaggi and Samputensili to form SAMP, the mechanical engineering corporation of the Maccaferri Industrial Group.

2009 - The modern Technology Centre in Bentivoglio is inaugurated. The new plant comprises the SAMP Group headquarters, the R&D Centre and the manufacturing facility for the European operations. The energy efficiency of the new building and the working conditions for the 293 employees are raised to new levels.

2010 - Sampsistemi presents the new Rod Breakdown Line RBL1, which revolutionises the wire drawing market with breakthrough concepts. At the same time the new PT portal series and the new MHV extruders for medium and high voltage cables are presented.
