Multiwire drawing machine

Technology leadership for high-tech applications
Productivity, flexibility, energy efficiency

With the increasing use of cables in machines and lines, buildings and vehicles, the requirements to be met by flexible cables, cable systems in automotive electronics, battery cables or installation instrumentation cables also increase. Without the  development of the NIEHOFF multiwire drawing machines it would not have been possible to efficiently manufacture wire with ever long-lasting reproducibility as we see it done today.

Multiwire drawing machines and production of strands

By the 1970s the development of the single-wire drawing machine had come to its technological limits. The only way to achieve greater productivity and precision in wire manufacturing was with the simultaneous drawing of a number of wires together. The first NIEHOFF MZE 120.4 multiwire drawing machine therefore had a major impact on the whole of the wire and cable industry, as did the MZV 120.8 vertical drawing machine in 1983, which already had been designed without the use of wire deflections.

This was followed in 1985 with the modular MMH series designed for user-specific configuration, the next leap forward in development: simultaneous drawing of up to 42 wires at speeds of up to 40 m/s. The  MMH 104 wire drawing machine, introduced in 2001/2002 and featuring an integrated continuous annealer RMA 201, is used for producing 8/16 aluminum wires and wires made of aluminum alloys. The most recent development are multiwire drawing machines with various drives for highest flexibility.

NIEHOFF multiwire drawing machines

In 1975, the first NIEHOFF MZE 120.4 multiwire drawing machine for simultaneous drawing of copper wire on four pairs of drawing cones
In 1983, the space-saving NIEHOFF MZV 120.8 multiwire drawing machine in vertical design; drawing of eight copper wires with speeds of up to 31.5 m/s
1985 sees the market launch of the MMH modular multiwire drawing machine for the drawing of up to 42 wires; drawing of copper wire and other types of non-ferrous metals at speeds of up to 40 m/s
In 2001, MMH 104 8/16 multiwire drawing machine with an RMA 201 continuous resistance annealer for aluminum wire
2012 sees the introduction of the MMH multiwire drawing machine with 20 wires; direct filling of a spool with 1x19 wires or two spools with 18 and 19 wires respectively, which can be processed to form a 19 or 37 wire strand, combined with multiple-motor technology.
